U.S. NATIONAL XC CHAAMPIONSHIP

Infineon Raceway Press Release

Ryan Trebon may have woken up with a sore stomach, but winning the U.S. Cross-Country National Championship definitely put his mind at ease.

Trebons won his first national championship, sprinting out to a lead early on the 7.7 mile course. He was unchallenged for the remainder of the race’s four laps and took the win.
Trebon, a youngster just turning 25, said that I was there for the last hour and forty minutes alone. It was impossible for me to let this go. This is my biggest win in four years of professional work. Trebon lives in Ventura and rides for Kona Clarks-Les Gets.

Trebon was happy for another reason. He said that he woke up this morning with a stomachache. Maybe it was from the last night’s dinner. Although it still hurts, this (win) is helpful.

Barry Wicks, Trebons’ teammate and second at 54.12 was followed by Jeremiah Bishop at third
Horgan-Kobelski stated that Ryan was expected to win a major breakout race so it wasn’t surprising. He had two to three strong attacks, and I couldn’t keep up with him.

Luna Chix Georgia Gould, 26, won the women’s cross-country championship. She took the lead from Subaru–Gary Fishers Heather Irmiger in the final lap, and rolled to victory. Gould, a Ketchum, ID woman, crossed the finish line in the three-lap women’s race.
Heather was able to pass me on the final lap, and I was able open up a gap in the long climb, » said Gould. His previous best was fifth at Deer Valley, Utah last week. This is my best win ever and it’s a little overwhelming right at the moment.

Shonny Vanlandingham is a Goulds Luna Chix partner. She was injured in a collision while preriding the course when she crashed. Shonny persevered and finished seventh.

The U.S. National Mountaincross Championships and Super-D Championships are next on the agenda.
