GRANTS OF ONTARIO TRAIL IMMPROVEMENT AWARDED

Three Ontario mountain bike clubs will be eligible for cash grants as a result of a partnership between OCA and IMBA Canada office.

The program’s goal is to promote mountain biking and training on trails, and encourage clubs to play a stewardship function in local trail communities. The program was funded by a percentage of each OCA full membership sold in this year.

We are proud to congratulate the 2005 winners.

WOODSTOCK CYCLING CLUB, WOODSTOCK (ON)
The WCC will purchase an electric high-powered trimmer to help with the creation of new trails in The Pines. The Pines trails host such races as the Dairy Capital Stampede. They are managed by WCC through a land lease agreement. Nearly 9 miles of pathways will be affected by the thinning of the forest this year.

TEAM HARDWOOD, CYCLING CLUB ORO STATION (ON)
The Hardwood Hills trail system is subject to a lot wear and tear due to the presence of more than 20 races each year. It also requires regular erosion control and maintenance. Team Hardwood will purchase materials to harden three sections of downhill trail that have been heavily impacted by racers.
