Bootleg Canyons Brent Thomson Survives Heart Attack

Brent Thomson, the Godfather and Trail Master at Bootleg Canyon, suffered a heart attack while riding the famous trails he had cut into Boulder City’s mountains. He was just a stone throw from Las Vegas.

Brent will be receiving quadruple bypass surgery while he rests under the care of doctors in the hospital. He had the same procedure 16 years ago due to unusually high levels of cholesterol in his family.

Thomson says that I try to keep in good shape and was riding when I felt chest pains and severe shortness. Andrew, my assistant, helped me and Barret, my son, got me to the hospital quickly. I’m just waiting for the day when I can go under the knife.

Bootleg Canynon’s trails are a favorite spot for riders. Brent’s passion for creating, maintaining, and promoting them has made them one of the most popular riding areas in Southwest. His position is not covered by health insurance.

(Surgery was set for Wednesday, January 14th. We will keep you posted on Brent’s condition as soon as we have them.
